Mission

The mission of the Chemical & Physical Hazards Program is to promote and protect the health of Cowlitz County residents by providing information, assistance and referrals regarding potential chemical and physical hazards.

Primarily, activities in the program focus on:

1. Hazards arising from natural disasters, such as earthquakes, storms, floods and volcanic activity.

2. Indoor air quality including mold.

3. Illegal methamphetamine laboratories.

What services are provided by Health Department professionals for Cowlitz County?  

• Provide education for the public in partnership with other agencies in the event of:

  • Natural disasters,

  • Chemical spills and

  • Illegal methamphetamine labs

• Provide educational materials and resources about indoor air quality and mold to residents.

• Provide public notifications and assure proper clean-up of properties contaminated by illegal methamphetamine labs in accordance with WAC.
