Getting Around: From Rivers to Ruts to Rails to Roads |
The Port of Kalama is
developing a Transportation Interpretive Center and has loaned the
Cowlitz County Historical Museum some of the artifacts for a special
public sneak peek of the upcoming exhibit. Many people harbor the
belief that Americans or Europeans developed the concept of trade.
In reality, trade is a fundamental principal of any civilization.
Trading enables the specialization of labor that creates greater
wealth in individuals, families and societies. The interpretive
center will explore how changes in the technology of transportation
have changed trade in our area throughout time. Don't miss this
chance to be the first to see part of the Port of Kalama
Transportation Interpretive Center.

Corridor: Footpath to Freeway
A
Toutle River settler's log
cabin built in 1884, Native American artifacts, and replicas of a general
store, loggers bunkhouse, steamboat dock, and
railroad depot highlight the museum's
permanent exhibits in the Main
Gallery. Photographs taken by Wilford Craik
of the Lewis River area are displayed in the
Public Meeting Room. Changing exhibits of general
historical interest are featured in the Special
Exhibits Room. |
