Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions, or FAQs, are questions we hear frequently. For specific questions, check the by Department page to see Utilities, Solid Waste, Road, etc FAQs.

What is the Department of Public Works?

The Department is a public entity overseen by Cowlitz County Commissioners. The Department is lead by a Director, Kent Cash with four Divisions reporting to him: Engineering, Road Operations, Utilities and Solid Waste.

The Department's goal is to provide essential public services, including roads, water, sanitary sewer and solid waste disposal in a manner consistent with community needs and public safety. Services such as road maintenance are necessary to our communities but would be difficult to maintain without a public body such as the Department of Public Works.
