Diking and Drainage

Early settlers to the Cowlitz County area were pioneers in a very real sense. In order to successfully build up the commercial centers we now enjoy dikes, levees and pumping stations had to be set up. To maintain those features, several organizations were established. Cowlitz County Department of Public Works Utilities Manager and his staff provide assistance as needed to the following districts:

• Consolidated Diking Improvement District No. 2 (Woodland)
• Consolidated Diking Improvement District No. 3 (South Kelso)
• Diking Improvement District No. 15 (Willow Grove)
• Lexington Flood Control Zone District (Lexington)
• Drainage Improvement District No. 1 (North Kelso)
